Saturday Surprises...

This is who showed up at our house today.

Don't know who this sweet fellow belongs to. It seems he had a collar at one time but is now missing it. He arrived very thirsty and very skinny. Looking for a place to get out of the rain.

If you know my hubby and I we are dog lovers to the core... We have two of our own.

If we had a bigger yard we would hang on to "Slim Jim" as my hubby has so lovingly named him. :) He is hanging out in the garage right now while my hubby is working on some projects. Animal control will come by tomorrow if he is still here to get him to a safe place.  I feel many things when these type of events happen, course this is the first time I really know it happened and the pup stayed longer than five seconds. Animals love you unconditionally. They don't care if you had a bad day or if you forgot to do the laundry. They just want to get your love and attention and give it back to you double. They want an ear rub or a belly scratch to know that you care too. They love seeing you come home from work and are waiting with wagging tails. They don't ask for much. Just food, shelter and water. Dogs and cats alike know the difference between someone who will care for them and someone who won't. They also know when they have been rescued.

My hubby will no longer watch animal planet cop shows because neither one of us can stand to see the abused animals. We both mute the TV when the ASPCA commercials come on with the haunting Sarah Mclaughlin songs. We can not stand to see the way that some have chosen to abuse their animals. They do not deserve that and they do not ask for that.

As you can tell I am very passionate about dogs and love them! Some of my favorite customers that came into the bank I worked at were puppies. ;) { I loved the owners too but the pups made my day}.I know for me in the past my pups have been some of my best friends. They were there for me to cry into their fur when I lost a loved one or when I was just having a bad day.

This is one of those buddies. His name was Roscoe and he passed away a year ago this June. RIP Roscoe. We miss ya buddy!

I will let you know how "Slim Jim" makes out.

  1. That's so sweet. I love the name you've given him. Slim Jim, too cute. I'm glad he found a nice warm family. My family and I have 2 dogs, 1 cat and a frog. My long time kitty companion died last year. I'm still sad about that. She lived 14 fabulous years.

  2. Oh sweet pictures of your furbabies. I love dogs and cats also. Our cat passed away 1 1/2 years ago and our Shih Tzu still misses him, as we do. Thank you for following Life or Something Like It. Following you back.
