The Day After

Well we made it through. :) Boo Bear did wonderfully. He was such a brave little guy. The surgery center was amazing. I am so thankful we have a center like that close by. While I hope we never have to do that again, I'm glad it is here if we need it. They were so friendly, open and made sure we understood everything that was going on. I was focused on our little beeper they gave us for almost 2 hours as I impatiently waited for them to tell me he was in recovery. ;-)

We went through a great surgeon that prepared us for everything that would go on in the operating room. I thought I was prepared for it all. I was not. I wasn't ready for the heartbreaking experience we had after surgery. As I was (impatiently again) waiting in recovery for them to bring him to me they finally brought him out. At first I thought I heard him laugh and I though oh that's good. It was not laughter. As he came through the door and I stood up I could see him with huge tears streaming down his face, hollering about how it hurt, how he wanted his Mama and I couldn't do anything yet. So they made me sit down and put him in my lap. I couldn't get him to calm down. He was fidgeting and wouldn't drink or eat his Popsicle.

The nurse sat down and told me he had woke up a little earlier than they would like so he was in an emergent delirium they called it. He was inconsolable for about 10-15 minutes and then fell back asleep laying in my arms. It was all I could do to keep from crying. But with the Lord's help I held it together.

After that he woke up himself and we came on home. He is doing much better and we are so thankful for all the prayers.

We had some great cuddle time yesterday:

Thanks again for everyone who has held us up in prayer. We appreciate it greatly!!!

  2. Glad everything was successful. I am a pediatric nurse and I have seen that after surgery many times. Thankfully after they sleep off the anesthesia, they are much happier. Praying for a quick recovery!
