M is for Memorial...

Blogging Through the Alphabet

Today is one of the hardest posts for me to write. M is for memorial... Today's memorial is to our special basset hound Oscar that went over the Rainbow Bridge yesterday.
He was only 7 weeks old when we got him. He was 8 1/2 yesterday. He had some problems and over the past two weeks he has gone progressively down hill. He was not eating well, sleeping even more and isolating himself from us. He was in pain. So my husband and I took him to the vet yesterday while my son played with friends. Thank God for friends like that who keep your child for you with open arms. As we talked with the vet we heard about another problem being added to his health issues. A spinal disease that was now pushing on his spinal cord and causing pain. So after lots of tears and heavy  hearts, we made the decision to let him go and hurt no more. So today I am doing a memorial to him and asking for your prayers. My 7 year old is hurting and broken hearted. I am hurting for myself and for my son. Thank you in advance for your prayers! :)

Oscar was the prettiest basset I think I have ever seen....

His face and eyes were just beautiful. He was sneaky and loved to try to steal toilet paper. LOL He would sit by your feet and squeak until you gave him a bite of what you had. He loved to help Boo Bear with school work when he was in the floor.

Or just try and sit in Boo Bear's lap even though he was much too big to do so...

He spent lots of days lounging on the couch and was spoiled r-o-t-t-e-n...

He waited for Papa to come visit so he could chase the "red bug". (a.k.a a laser pointer) He was a very special dog no matter how hard it was to cut his toe nails or doctor his ears when the time was needed. Thank you Oscar for all the laughs, giggles and fun you gave us over the past 8 1/2 years. You were special. You were loved. You are greatly missed.

  1. This was precious, Jen. I know you were probably crying so hard that you could hardly see. I almost cried while reading it. We loved Oscar as if he was ours. He was a very special buddy. We will miss him, but I know not as much as you guys. Praying for you all. Love you, Mama
