Book Review: Hermie, A Common Caterpillar

** I received this book free from Book Sneeze to review. All opinions are mine.**

I had an opportunity to review Max Lucado's book Hermie, A Common Caterpillar. I must say while this is a children's book this hit home for me in a huge way. The caterpillar Hermie and his friend Wormie feel like they are nothing special. They pray to God to become special like their butterfly or lady bug friends but God simply tells them He is not done with them yet. How many times have we as adults or children asked this same question? Why can't I be like ___(fill in the blank)? What is wrong with me? The answer is nothing! God is not finished with you yet. Hermie learns this beautiful truth when he finally turns into a beautiful butterfly unlike any others around him.

I loved this story. This reminds us as adults that God is not through with us yet. It also teaches a valuable lesson to our children that you are special to God. No matter if you are not strong like your friend the ant, or if you do not have spots or stripes like others, you are special! I am so glad we got the chance to read this book. This has become one of our new favorites! If you have the chance to pick this wonderful book up for your child be sure to grab it.

  1. We have a couple of the videos. They're so funny! And cute for kids. They always have a great lesson to impart.
