Join with other mommies over at The Homeschool Chic as we all share our journey through homeschool.
In My Life This Week...I am worn out! :) We had lots of things to do this week. I am also trying to plan out a new grocery budget idea and meal plan so that is something I am working on. It was just a wild week but we enjoyed it!
In Our Homeschool This Week...This was our first official week of doing it without the virtual school. After much prayer and discussion I felt as if this was the best route for us.He is in Kindergarten so for now I feel this is best. We worked on a Dinosaur Unit Study this week and had a great time making our own fossils. If you want to see how to make them stop by here. That was so much fun! He loved the project and I did to. Next week we will be offically starting our Expedition Earth curriculum we got from Erica at Confessions of a Homeschooler. I am also working on a Space themed unit study for next week. ;-) I will be busy this weekend.
I am inspired by...The great homeschool bloggers I meet each week. This week I met some more great Mama's over on Twitter. I am just overjoyed and blessed each time I meet new mother's that are doing this journey as well. Thanks to all of you for your support and encouragement!
My Favorite Thing This Week... Making the salt dough fossils. Also hanging out for a while at the park with some of the other children from Boo Bear's art and PE class. He is making new friends and enjoying it so much.
What's Working/Not Working for Us...Unit Studies seems to be working for us. This week was so much less stressed than the previous weeks. Going with the flow and relaxing has worked out so much better and we are both enjoying it more. Glad that it is working out better!
Things I'm Working on...The Space unit study and then I will also be cleaning out the house this weekend. Trying to prepare for a yard sale sometime soon. :)
A video, picture, link , or quote to share... Making our fossils...
Stopping by from the link up. It must be exciting and a bit nervous to step away from a virtual school and do it your own way. This is only our third year homeschooling and for us, the more we do it our own way the better it gets! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great week. We have found that we like unit studies too. I think it helps young kids stay focused.
ReplyDeleteSalt dough fossils ... how cool is that! :-) I am definitely bookmarking it. Enjoy your new journey of learning through unit studies! It sounds like it's going beautifully.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fabulous week :) ..... I love meeting other homeschooling moms too! I find reading blogs help me get through everything we go through! :)
ReplyDeleteI remember making fossils with my oldest when he was that age - so much fun! I have a dinosaur unit planned later this school year for my kindergartner & we'll be doing them then. I agree that unit studies are great for that age/grade.
ReplyDeleteI think the homeschool journey is all worth it at the end. To teach your chid can be a rewarding experience. Would love to see how the fossils come out.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great weekend,
Barbara
