End of the Week: Spring Break :)

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

Check in with other moms who are sharing their weekly wrapup as well at Weird, Unsocialized Homschoolers and The Homeschool Chick!

In our life this week... We are kind of in reboot mode. After the wedding and all the traveling last weekend we are enjoying downtime visiting with Mimi and Papa. They came to stay for a while and we took this week for our Spring Break.  I am working on a new job I was blessed with this week. It has been kind of a rough start so here's to hoping it smooths out soon. Otherwise it has just been unpacking, washing up clothes, and hanging with the g-parents. :) They celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary this week ;) Happy Anniversary guys!!

In our homeschool... We are breaking! We will start back up on Monday which is when the public schools are out for Spring Break here. So we will leave some open time for park days or other things but we will be back into the swing next week. We did do some gardening this week. We planted our two tomato plants that grew in our little cups and have planted some cucumbers. We will see how they do. I want to plant some more but first we have to get daddy to make us a spot :).

Helpful Homeschool tips/advice to share... I found some awesome links this week. I am on the WAHM forum and found a homeschool thread on there. :) I didn't even know they had one! I found some awesome sights on there that I am investigating now. Of course you lovely homeschoolers may already know them but they were new to me and I WISH I had known about them before. This first one was awesome. They have a ton of worksheets and fun games to help with several subjects. There were also some others mentioned called Funfonix.com and Reading Bear. I haven't checked those two out yet but they had great reviews.

My favorite thing this week... My kiddos recital on Wednesday. He was awesome! He took a creative movement class this past month and they put on their routine they have been doing this whole time. He did great!!! He was so excited and loved doing it. So now I am trying to figure out a class that he can do without it being too girly. He wants to try more dancing but Daddy wants some manly stuff too :) LOL So how do we find the balance??

I'm Reading... Eyes of Justice for a book review. I will have that post up soon. I love reading on my iPhone so I think I need to get a reader. I didn't think I would like it because I like real books but I love how easy it is to get a book and just go! Do you have any type of E-reader? What is your favorite and why do you like it?

I'm cooking... Fried eggplant! It was yummy!! We tried grilling it last year and neither of us liked it. So I tried frying it last night and boy was it good. It was like eggplant french fries. :) They were wonderful and now we can cook eggplant again!

A photo of the week... Saying Good Bye to the goats! :)

  1. We rebooted too, but not with a break! LOL We needed to reboot ATTITUDES with lots of focused days! ;)

We can't wait to plant, but it's a bit early around these parts. Another couple of weeks and we can start our "cool weather" crops (like peas and lettuce) inside to be planted mid-April. Right now the garden is FROZEN. LOL

    Have a GREAT weekend!

  4. Aw, goats are fun. I made a Greek dish with eggplant and I just couldn't like it. Maybe frying it would be the best course of action for me.

We won't get a 'spring break' of sorts, we are moving in June so we will double up the lessons to be finished in time to really enjoy our trek across the country. I am looking forward to it :-)

Okay lol, back to what I was going to say...

How is the homeschooling working out for your child? My 9 year old is in public school and lately has been struggling with a string of bully's (mostly BOYS!) and she is the sweetest girl ever.

Sounds like ya'lls Spring Break was fantabulous! But I am ready for her to be back in school and studying for her FCAT that will be in a month :/ scary....

    ps. I followed ya!
