Blessings Covered With Fur...

Blessings come in all shapes, sizes and forms. It's amazing to me how God knows exactly what we need, when we need it.  That's what I consider Molly, our dog. She is a blessing covered with fur.

You see this past year in June we lost our Basset Hound, Oscar, of 8 and a half years. He was my baby before my baby even got here. I had him since he was 7 weeks old and only weighed 5 pounds. There was lots of cuddling with him.

He was the first dog my son ever knew and boy was Oscar excited about this new little bundle that was in his house. He made sure we knew if he was crying and that we took care of him in a timely manner ;-). He got old and gray as dogs do and lost some of that spunk. The past few weeks he was here were rough for us all. My son didn't really see what his dad and I saw. We saw him getting ready to leave us.

I have to be honest. When he passed on I was not ready for a new dog. Not one bit. I wanted to wait but my son was having a terribly horrible time. He felt like he lost his brother. This was one of the first real losses of someone that close to him he had to deal with. I was taking him to the shelter and looking at dogs online but I just couldn't find the one. Then I found her...

Her owners didn't want to keep her in a kennel any longer for the long hours of the day that she had to be in it. They had changed jobs so it wasn't fair to her. We went to see her and that night brought her home. I admit it was a rough few days for me. I thought she was amazing but she wasn't Oscar. I had to get past my grieving and Molly helped me do that.

She held my hand literally and helped all of us get through that tough time. It was one of those times I knew was coming but wasn't really prepared for. I never had to make the decision to let go of a dog before. Not that way anyway. Sure we had had to give up our dogs but they were still living and vibrant. This was something totally different.

I am so thankful that ad posted when it did and I happened to get on the computer right after it. She has truly helped my son to move on and helped him get through his grieving process. She has brought tons of laughter and fun since she moved in here.

They have become best buds and she has become "my" dog. Thank you Father for sending Molly our way. We will care for her and make sure she is happy! Thank you Molly for all the love and laughter you have brought us and for all that is to be ahead!

  1. I agree with you that Molly is a blessing. She came at the right time for you all, and I thank God that she came when she did. I know how it hurts to lose a dog after many years or after one year. It hurts very bad. Give Molly love from us.
