First, I'd like to say welcome to Farmwood Academy! After four years of homeschool we've finally come up with a name. And, awesome daddy made us a sign to go with it! We have hung it in our homeschool room and are ready for our new year!
We have started doing 4th grade work now with the exception of math. Yes. We are still finishing up math. Why is it math takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r it seems? We are just working on both grades and let's be honest. The first part of 4th grade math is a review of what we're doing right now anyway so.... :-)
After days and days and days... and DAYS of rain, we finally got some sun out this week. Yes. We live in the Sunshine State but guess what. Summer? Means lots of rain and this summer has had more than I've seen in a long time. We have had flooding in the Southern parts of the state a couple hours from here that had catfish swimming in the streets. No joke.
We were glad to finally get outside in the sun to enjoy some swim time this week. It's been a rough life for a little boy who loves to be in the water and not been able to get outside.
This year we've got several extracurricular activities going on. It should be exciting, and hopefully not too full. We started 4H this year so Boo Bear is having a blast with that. We will return to our science classes in about a month and we have added the local drama club to our activities. He did the play again this past summer and has definitely gotten the theater bug. He loves them so I found a local civic theater closer to our home and he will partake in the play this fall. He's super excited and I'm glad to find his "thing" finally. :-)
So how was your week? Did you start back yet? I'm linking up over at Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers today!
It is so hard to keep the schedule "not to full" isn't it? I struggle with that. The museum looks like a blast.

Yes it is!
DeleteAww look at him. He's having a great time and has grown over the summer. Visiting from Weekly Wrap Up!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nita! :) He has grown! For some reason I can't convince him to slow down...
DeleteWe had a field trip this week too. We visited a science museum and was able to watch a pretty cool 3D nature movie while we were there. Last month, we had about two weeks where it was cloudy and overcast and/or rainy pretty much for the entire two weeks. Oh were we ever so glad to see some sunshine!
ReplyDeleteYes! It's been that way here too. Some areas are quite flooded and can't get dried out. Thankful for the sunshine!
DeleteIt's always a struggle to remember to put the books and worksheets away and get out in the world. I find we're either out and about a ton going on field trip after field trip or we're working for weeks on end on the book work and get caught up in the day to day checklist. I figure in the end it all evens out but I'm really fighting to find a more consistent approach.
ReplyDeleteIt's the same way here. We either have too many going on on none at all ;). Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteWe really need to take more field trips. I have a three year old though and he makes going places more challenging! Looks like y'all had a blast!
