Our 1st Week of 4th Grade!

IT's baaacckkk!! Weekly review time! Honestly this is one of my favorite posts each week. It helps me look back and see, hey... You did accomplish things this week even if it didn't feel like it.


First, I'd like to say welcome to Farmwood Academy! After four years of homeschool we've finally come up with a name. And, awesome daddy made us a sign to go with it! We have hung it in our homeschool room and are ready for our new year!

We have started doing 4th grade work now with the exception of math. Yes. We are still finishing up math. Why is it math takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r it seems? We are just working on both grades and let's be honest. The first part of 4th grade math is a review of what we're doing right now anyway so.... :-)

 We went on our first official homeschool field trip of the year. We visited an exhibit for Lincoln and the museum in the next town over that Boo Bear enjoys so much. The exhibit was slightly disappointing as it wasn't quite what we had in mind. But we had a nice day out anyway.

 It was fun to be on a field trip again. We are looking forward to taking more trips this year. That's my goal for our 4th grade year. I want to be more hands-on outside of the house than we have before. We typically fall into a rut of just trying to get through school work and it's not a good thing. We both get burnt out rather quickly.

 So this year more field trips are in order. We are going to try and visit several places this year but not sure which ones yet.

 We had a blast running away from the Meglaodon teeth this time too. I think his scared face needs some work. This time he wasn't quite as scared ;).

 I think I did okay on mine, right? Am I convincing enough?

Those things were massive when they were here. I would not want to meet one of those at all. Great White's are bad enough but could you imagine the animal that fit these jaws? Whew!

After days and days and days... and DAYS of rain, we finally got some sun out this week. Yes. We live in the Sunshine State but guess what. Summer? Means lots of rain and this summer has had more than I've seen in a long time. We have had flooding in the Southern parts of the state a couple hours from here that had catfish swimming in the streets. No joke.

We were glad to finally get outside in the sun to enjoy some swim time this week. It's been a rough life for a little boy who loves to be in the water and not been able to get outside.

This year we've got several extracurricular activities going on. It should be exciting, and hopefully not too full. We started 4H this year so Boo Bear is having a blast with that. We will return to our science classes in about a month and we have added the local drama club to our activities. He did the play again this past summer and has definitely gotten the theater bug. He loves them so I found a local civic theater closer to our home and he will partake in the play this fall. He's super excited and I'm glad to find his "thing" finally. :-)
