Thoughts This Week…

Well our tree and lights are up! Yeah!! I love this time of year. Course I am also an emotional basketcase at this time so everything makes me teary eyed. I do mean EVERYTHING. Reading a story, watching cartoons with a special Christmas meaning, hearing a song, you name it. LOL But that is just me! I am a sap… I admit it…

Getting into the Christmas spirit was difficult for me last year for some reason. This year is totally different. Oh, don’t think everything is perfect and easy… This year has had it’s ups and downs. I have lost my grandmother this year. This means I have no living grandparents anymore. That is hard BUT they are celebrating in a much better place :). Struggles and trials have hit all of us but that is not what we should be focusing on. Believe me it is much easier to say that sometimes than to do but just try… :)

I know how hard it is when you have children and want to give them everything you can at Christmas. I also know the meaning behind Christmas and want my son to know the true reason. I have to remind myself at times too. The real reason we celebrate this time is because Jesus was born and came down to this Earth for us. This is a time of remembrance and celebration. Enjoy your families, not so much focus on gifts. Your time means so much more to them than the material things. Oh, don’t get me wrong. My little guy will have presents to open but that is not my focus. When they look back at Christmas’s past will they remember everything you gave them or the traditions you set. Will they think oh how great it was when I got… or will they say do you remember the Christmas we went…

Remember why you celebrate your holiday. Why do you do the things you do? Take time to sit and watch a Christmas movie with your children or go outside in the fresh, crisp air. Take time to ride around and look at the beautiful Christmas lights that are out. These are just a few of the traditions my family has. Let the Christmas spirit catch you and enjoy the time. Don’t focus on the material things but focus on the love and joy that always seems to show up around this time. If you have Christmas traditions you love then please share them! I would love to hear what you all do for your Holiday celebrations. :)

Until next time Be Blessed!

  1. Nice post Jen. I can't wait to have my decorations all up too. I'm still trying to decide if it will be a real or fake tree this year. :)
