Real Life Homeschool : Weekly Wrap-up

Happy Friday! This week we have been talking about real life in our homeschool world. Today is a typical post I do on Fridays that goes over what we did throughout the week. It's a look into our full week and the activities we did so we'll put it in our Real Life blog hop posts. You can catch up with me on Day 1, Day 2 and Day 3 by clicking the links.

In our school this week... We were progressing right along. We are loving the anatomy with Apologia and started drawing our cell this week. I can't wait to make the eatable cell with him probably the first of the week. He's loving the work and it's one of my favorite sciences to study. So this is a win win for both of us :).

I went ahead and ordered the second half of his Math Mammoth curriculum. I had thought we would keep going with the programs online we had been able to review. While he likes them, and so do I, I'm noticing he's getting bored with it. I also think he needs more handwriting and actual working out the problem. A trend I have noticed with many HS Mama's lately is they are talking about their kids figuring out how to beat the system. Basically they get the good grades because they figure out how to work the program to get done without learning the concept. So we are back to paper and pencil with a combination of online games/review. I think that works better for us.

Science classes started up again this week and he was super excited yesterday. They dissected a sheep eyeball. Eww.. Ok, I did dissections in Biology but not sure I'm ready for them yet again :). The class is on senses and of course sight was the one they talked about yesterday. He had a blast!

We will also be starting a new unit study next week that we will be reviewing. I'm excited about this one too and so is Boo Bear. He picked out the topic and of course , it was animals.

In our life this week... We are finally getting back to our routines. Chores, school, etc. We did go out to eat with my hubby's boss this week while he was in town. That was a nice change of pace for dinner. :)

Today is my birthday and I have to figure out if I want to stay home and have my hubby, the Grill Master, cook for me or go out. I'm not real sure yet. I LOVE when he grills and I honestly refuse to get a steak anywhere else ;). So what do you think? Stay home or go out?

A sweet friend of mine made this bracelet for me. :) She's quite artistic and I love her creations. Thank you so much!!

This week I'm also participating in a blog hop and Instagram challenge with the TOS Review Crew. Here's a pic of our Day 1 which was a selfie. It's funny how people are so different. Some are very used to taking them and others despise them. To be honest, sometimes it's the only way Mama's get in the picture because they are always behind the camera ;). I've been told he's my mini-me. What do you think?

We have a pretty full weekend ahead. A couple in our church is renewing their wedding vows for their 50th anniversary. I'm so thankful we are surrounded by couples in our church that have been married for what seems like forever. They feed into us and encourage us, as do our parents. Mine have been married for 37 years!

Today I'm thinking a little school work, a little baking in the kitchen and maybe going to see Home. What do you think?

I'm linking up with Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers, Our 4 Kiddos and Homegrown Learners.

  4. Ew! A sheep's eye! Ick! LOL I'm kinda glad that we didn't get to that in our Biology on year. I never did order that dissection kit...Happy birthday! Did you go out? or grill in? There is something special about someone cooking for us at home...50 years! It's such a rarity these days, sadly, that marriages don't late such long times. It's awesome to see couples that do!

  5. I've done dissections but not sure I could handle a sheep's eye. Eww is right!

Happy birthday (and it's probably late but I vote for a good steak on the grill!)
