Weekly Loss Update...

This week didn't see any major changes. We celebrated a birthday so that brought cake and eating at different places. I will say that I only had a piece of the cake I made my hubby one time. The first day I cooked it. I did avoid it the rest of the time and opted for something else, if anything.

Last night we tried a new recipe and really loved it. It came from the Wheat Belly 30 Minutes cookbook. It was the beef stroganoff and boy was it delicious. Nothing was left! I served it with a salad and some quinoa. Even the little guy scarfed it down. It was yummy and there was no guilt in eating it!

I also cooked some Paleo pumpkin mini muffins this week as I have a new mini muffin pan to review. Plus it's beginning to sort of look like fall. (At least in the stores. The temp is still too high). So I made some muffins and really enjoyed them.

Basically my goals are to get back on full Paleo/wheat free lifestyle as much as possible. This weekend was certainly not wheat free. We had pasta at two of the places we went so, smaller portions and lots of veggies on the sides.

I'm not naive and know that sometimes you just can't avoid it. That's why we strive for an 80/20 or 90/10 lifestyle as much as possible. So here's our goals for the week coming up:

  • Continue to eliminate wheat in the house
  • Add more veggies, salads and fruits
  • Exercise at least 10 minutes everyday
  • Try a new recipe

So what are your goals this week? Have you met any that you want to share? Let's come each week to encourage each other in our progress!

Trying to Lose...

I think I'm going to take the inspiration I'm getting from Kris over at Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers and start making Wednesday's a weight loss post. I have always struggled with a weight problem. Up, down , up, down. I am, alas, an emotional eater. I always have been.

The past few years I have learned some interesting things about nutrition, eating, and my body in general. This led to some weight being dropped but that changed when I got derailed. I have then spent time trying to research, pray and ask God for guidance on how to get my motivation back.

I have a confession. I have an obsessive (something) about food. I am a Type 2 diabetic so honestly, food makes me guilty, feel bad, worried, stressed etc. I constantly have felt the guilt time and again over eating something or not eating something. I have felt free from that in the past month. I'm relearning ways to eat my favorites without the harmful effects.

This past month I have felt better, gotten that motivation back and have lost a few pounds so far. Here are some of the things I have done:

  • Cut out wheat as much as possible.
  • More veggies and less carbs
  • Tried smoothies and protein shakes
  • Stopped feeling guilt over food
  • Tried new recipes and liked them!!!

This is my goal. Each week I will try and share a new recipe I tried that is Paleo, Diabetic, weight loss friendly. I'll share my ups and downs. I will share my losses and even gains. That's what it's all about right?

While I know I won't be the same if I reach the weight in the picture, (kids sure do change your body shape) this is the healthy range I'm striving for. This was me at my smallest.

And my inspiration/motivation? It's here...

If you'd like to join me on this journey then feel free to post a blog and let me know how you're doing. If you just want to comment here to connect, we can do that too! I want to be an encouragement and soak up that encouragement everywhere I can. Thanks for stopping by!
