Eating Healthy on a Budget

One of the biggest excuses you hear for not eating healthy is it is so expensive. While this is true, there are ways to get around that. Here are a few tips for eating healthy and staying on a tight budget

1. Pick fruits and veggies that are in season- By doing this you can save a lot of money. For example, choosing blueberries or strawberries when they are in season can save you money. Buy them when they are in season and freeze them. If you have a produce stand buy in bulk and freeze them for later. You can help save yourself some money and time by having them on hand.

2. Use your coupons- By saving money on other items and getting them for next to nothing you can spend that extra money on your fresh veggies and fruits. Learn how to follow the sales and match up your coupons. There are great sites out there that do this for you and you can make your list all while seeing what coupons to gather. This takes a little extra time but you will be excited when you see how much you can save.

3. Stop buying processed foods- This can not only save in your pocketbook but also your waistline. Be conscious of what you buy and what you are feeding your family. You might be surprised to know some of the ingredients in your favorite foods. Take time to read the labels.

Start off by doing small things to help. Watch the sales and by only what is in season. It is possible to not only save money but be healthy.
